Happy July! 🦀
Thank you for subscribing to month two of Ensemble LA, where we celebrate and share LA’s exciting and scrappy theatre scene.
Please share with anyone creative in LA, anyone who is in a show, and anyone who wants to see shows! ✨
July is an exciting month for us as my wife and I both celebrate our birthdays! One Cancer and one Leo — it’s not hard to guess who’s who! ðŸ¤
We’re coming off an exciting month of scene study class, where we explored Pinter, Beckett, and Fornés. Despite being British, I’ve somehow completely missed watching or studying Pinter, so it was exciting to take on the role of Richard in The Lover and finally read a few of his plays! Here’s a wonderfully weird 1963 film adaptation of The Lover for anyone intrigued. Let me know if you have a favorite Pinter in the comments below as I continue my journey! I also fell in love with Beckett’s Happy Days, which was portrayed devastatingly by two of our classmates, and I’ve been left feeling very existential ever since.
We also managed to catch one of the last showings of A Strange Loop, at the Ahmanson! We were thoroughly impressed with this musical’s unique concept and insanely talented cast, especially the ensemble who cleverly depicted multiple characters.
On to this week’s clowns, performers, and all-out entertainers. Here are some shows you shouldn’t miss!
