LA Shows and Events: July 8 - 14

Another jam-packed newsletter this week! Summer has well and truly got going, which means Shakespeare in the Park is back, plus lots of other joyful park-based activities. The annual Summer Playwrights Festival is also kicking off, so there’s lots of exciting original work to see in the coming few weeks! As for me, it was my birthday this past weekend, so I spent the week giving my brain and body a rest, logging off, and spending some time in nature! 🌱

    A comedy about gender, history, and playing dress up that happens to rhyme. storytelling, standup, multi-media, poetry, and a touch of drag.

    Shakespeare in the Park is back with As You Like It. A screwball romantic comedy with songs inspired by 1930’s crooner, Al Bowlly.

    A new weekly Variety Mic for standup, characters, music, poetry, clown and more!

    An award-winning solo clown show of a queer man on the verge of a breakdown, or maybe, spiritual enlightenment.

  • The Dolphin I Loved | July 13 | Actors Company | West Hollywood
    A 45-minute homage to the true story of Margarett Lovatt and her Dolphin, Peter.

  • Limp Wrist Comedy Show | July 13 | Junior High | Glendale
    A queer comedy show (with the occasional Ally) hosted by Peri Lapidus.

  • Puppets in the Park | July 13 | Bob Baker’s Marionette Theatre & Hollyhock House | Barnsdall Art Park | Los Feliz
    Enjoy puppets and crafts for free in the park, family-friendly

  • LA Choreographers & Dancers Presents Heart | July 12 - 14 | Culver City Ivy Substation | Culver City

    The company performs their newest work, Heart, with four other electrifying works!

    Andrew Scott brings multiple characters to life in a radical new version of Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya.
